On August 30, 2024, the VietNam Competition Commission organized the conference titled "Introduction to the Process of Handling Competition Restriction Cases" in Ho Chi Minh City. This event is part of a series of activities aimed at promoting and disseminating competition law and implementing the content of the Legal Support Plan for Small and Medium Enterprises. This plan, spearheaded by the VietNam Competition Commission, follows Decision No. 1003/QĐ-BCT, issued on April 26, 2024, by the Minister of Industry and Trade, which established the Legal Support Plan for Small and Medium Enterprises for 2024.

The conference was attended by experts and scholars in the field of competition law, representatives from the judiciary, legal professionals, the business community, and delegates from various units of the Ministry of Industry and Trade. In her opening remarks, Ms. Trần Thị Mai Hương, Vice Chairwoman of the VietNam Competition Commission, emphasized the role and importance of the Competition Law, highlighting the significance of understanding and complying with competition law to build and maintain a fair and healthy competitive environment. This, she noted, aims to protect the public interest and safeguard consumer rights.

The goal of the conference was to introduce the public, the business community, and those interested in competition law to an overview of the regulations concerning the process of handling cases, resolving complaints regarding case-handling decisions, and participating in administrative litigation related to competition restriction cases, with updates based on current legal provisions. Additionally, recommendations drawn from litigation practices and the process of accepting and adjudicating administrative cases in court, as presented by judicial representatives, provided valuable and practical lessons for competition authorities in the enforcement of the law.
